Our Beautiful Rose Window

High on the back wall of the church’s sanctuary is the largest of the churches stain glass windows.

Rose windows, from the French Roue’ meaning wheel, are architectural features found in the Gothic era and the later Gothic revival period in the 19th century in America. Rose windows usually follow one of three themes, “The Last Judgment”; “The creation”; and “The Glory of God”.

The Rose window at Willow Creek Presbyterian Church is from the revival period. It is built around the theme of “The Glory of God”, depicting Christ’s Crown and Covenant. The cross in the center of the Saltire or St. Andrew’s Cross, St. Andrew being the patron saint of Scotland, reflects the Scottish origin of the congregation.
